About EAHCS:
The
Ethiopian-American Historical and Cultural Society incorporated
in 2002 is a non-profit membership organization. Our Mission is
to collect, preserve, and promote the history of the diverse people
of Ethiopia - past and present. We do so in a belief that creating
a familiarity with one’s history can inspire individuals to
learn from the experiences of others, find common ground with them,
and aid everyone in making informed decisions that are needed to
shape a stronger society now and in the future.
The
lack of understanding about Ethiopia’s past and present is
a problem of serious consequences, especially to the Ethiopian American
youth where their confidence and pride is at stake. The issue of
how Ethiopia is depicted and understood in our minds is also of
critical importance to our relationship with the United States.
